This 1938 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 convertible sedan is one of a claimed 58 built and is said to have been sold new in Rochester, New York. The car was purchased by its current owner in 1999 and subsequently driven from Pennsylvania to San Francisco. The 346ci V8 was reportedly rebuilt following the completion of the 2004 CCCA Alaska CARavan, with paintwork and chrome refurbishment also performed during the ensuing years. Approximately 15k miles have been added since the engine work, and the black-over-gray car is equipped with a three-speed manual transmission, a beige convertible top, driving lights, 15″ steel wheels with chrome hubcaps, and a retractable glass cabin partition. This Fleetwood Series 75 is now offered in Arizona on dealer consignment with a Washington title.
Originally delivered in Moleskin Gray (5), the car has been repainted black. Exterior details include a replacement beige soft top, a gray top boot, Trippe driving lights, dual-side mirrors, rear wheel skirts, running boards, and a split windshield. Paint and chromework are noted under current ownership. One of the windows is cracked.
Gray-painted 15″ steel wheels feature chrome hubcaps and are mounted with 7.50-16 Firestone wide-whitewall tires. Braking is provided by hydraulically actuated drums at each corner.
The rear passenger compartment is outfitted with a gray leather bench seat with a central armrest. The roll-down glass cabin partition retracts into a bulkhead topped by wood trim that houses an analog clock. A robe rope and footrests are further appointments. The Mosstred carpets were installed under current ownership.
The front passengers are also provided with a gray leather bench seat as well as wood door caps. The steering wheel fronts a 110-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 98k miles, more than 20k of which were added under current ownership.
The 346ci Monobloc L-head V8 was factory equipped with a single-barrel Stromberg carburetor and was rated at 140 horsepower when new. It is said to have been rebuilt approximately 15k miles ago around 2004. A wiring harness from YnZ is fitted.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission.
