If you’ve been holding out hope for a dramatic Viper comeback, you might want to keep that optimism in storage next to your vintage Dodge merch. But if all you really want is a practically brand-new slice of V10 muscle to throw in your garage or weekend rotation, there’s a wild find waiting in Pennsylvania.
A local dealer is offering an ultra-rare 2017 Dodge Viper GTC ACR Extreme with, get this, just eight miles on the odometer. Not eight hundred. Eight. It also happens to be packed with nearly every option you could hope for on one of the final, most extreme versions of the Viper.
More: Most F40s Are Garage Queens But Not This One
In common parlance, the ACR Extreme is a Viper with a normal cabin and then the addition of the ACR package. Going even further, it enables the buyer to customize the car to a high degree. That’s exactly what the original owner did here.
This muscle car once held the title of fastest American supercar around the Nürburgring, before getting knocked off the podium first by the newer Corvette Z06 and then the Mustang GTD. Finished in Stryker Orange, it sports 19-inch ACR wheels, Brembo brakes, and a carbon fiber rear wing with an exposed weave.
Track Credentials and Carbon Overload
A $5,100 carbon fiber package piles on even more aero bits, giving the already aggressive bodywork some extra visual punch. But as always with the Viper, it’s what’s lurking under the skin that really counts.
Under the hood sits an 8.4-liter V10 that produced 645 horsepower (480 kW) and 600 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque when it left the factory. Of course, after years of sitting idle with uncirculated fluids and seals that haven’t seen action since the Obama administration, there’s no telling exactly how it runs today.
The good stuff doesn’t stop there. A manual gearbox shows up in its own special way in the cabin. The upholstery there is what Dodge called Demonic Red at the time. An Alcantara headliner sits above both seats, which, themselves, get Laguna leather. Demonic Red seat belts keep everyone in their place. It’s a stunning package worthy of praise. Of course, with an original MSRP of $180,430, it should be.
According to the seller, that’s the highest sticker ever attached to a Viper. The car is listed through JFK Auto, though they’re keeping the current asking price under wraps, you’ll have to contact them directly if you’re curious enough to ask.
More Where That Came From
All of this said, the same dealer has more than one Viper of this kind. and that should give you a ballpark figure of what they’re going to ask for the 8-mile example above. Another one, with 371 miles is on offer for the same price. Then, there’s an ACR Extreme with 299 miles on the clock and an asking price of even more cash; $499,000. If you miss out on one, at least there are a couple of others that were snapped up years ago and have basically been sitting around for almost a decade.
