LIMP BIZKIT Vs. A Drone: Watch FRED DURST Smack One Out Of The Air Mid-Show

Nü-metal icons Limp Bizkit brought chaos and comedy to the stage at Atakoy Marina in Istanbul, Turkey on August 17, when frontman Fred Durst personally dealt with an airborne intruder (right around the 4 minute mark).

The band ripped through a 14-song set, but the biggest shock came during their penultimate track, “Take A Look Around.” Multiple drones hovered over the crowd throughout the night, seemingly capturing footage without authorization.

When one drone drifted closer to the stage, Durst motioned for it to come face-to-face with him. But just as it entered striking range, he lashed out with his microphone, knocking the device from the air and sending it crashing to the ground. He then instructed security to hurl the broken drone back into the crowd.

The drone strike came with a dose of irony, given that “Take A Look Around” was originally written for the Mission: Impossible 2 soundtrack. Durst played up the connection, joking with fans that Tom Cruise had flown in for the show but was “too sh” to join him onstage — a wink that likely went over the heads of audience members unfamiliar with the track’s origins.

Fans noted that Durst’s antics would have also fit the band’s signature anthem “Break Stuff” — which, in true Bizkit fashion, was performed twice during the night.

Potential Last Show in Turkey?

In a more sobering moment, Durst told the audience that the Istanbul gig might mark the last time Limp Bizkit would be allowed to perform in Turkey, though he offered no details on why. The comment left many fans speculating about behind-the-scenes tensions or restrictions.
